It looks like Dede and Snegurochka are taking a break prior to the hectic preparations for the holiday. Hmm… are you ready?

The Burial of Christ (Vasili Belyaev, 1913)

We have seen some examples of the mosaic work of Mr Belyaev at the Spas na Krovi in Petersburg. Here is an example of his painting, and you can readily see the stylistic similarities.

Walking to Church with Vladimir Buzin. song: Françoise Hardy

The neo-Impressionist art of the contemporary Russian painter Vladimir Buzin combines with an old American standard, Suzanne, by Leonard Cohen sung by Françoise Hardy in French. Another one of those combinations that works better than it sounds!

An Evening Launch (Oleg Avakimyan, 1986)

I mentioned THREE Leonid Baranovs, did I not? Well… this painting is in honour of the third Mr Baranov, the commander of the Baikonur cosmodrome. Three very different men… all with the same Christian and family names (different patronyms, I’ll warrant), but very different in life path and outlook. Nevertheless, I stand by my earlier comment. I do daresay the original Mr Baranov got around quite a bit!
