Ave Maria. Pietro Mascagni (arranged by Robert Sadin). sung by Plácido Domingo and Sissel

The Interlude from Pietro Mascagni’s beloved opera Cavalleria Rusticana was arranged by Robert Sadin for vocal duet and orchestra using a familiar Roman Catholic prayer. The singers are Plácido Domingo and Sissel, and the visual backdrop is a montage of photos illustrating the many facets of Orthodox life, the joy and the sadness, the rejoicing and the mourning. Joy without pain is giddy and flighty, pain without joy is despondent and hopeless.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us
