There’ll Always Be a Russia

Nicky and I had to miss Easter services this evening because he had to work. Such does happen… my Nicky works in health care, and, sometimes, he must work on the weekend. There are many people who work at odd times… policemen, firemen, doctors, nurses, seamen, ambulance crew, telephone linemen, desk clerks, soldiers, bus drivers… without them, our society would grind to a halt. Pause and say a prayer for all of those who missed Easter services due to legitimate causes (including those sick in hospital, of course). As for us, the Greek church here in Albany is having a service at 11.00, so, we’re going to attend that. It IS Easter, after all… you MUST sanctify the day.

Whose untimely death is being mourned here? Is it a beloved wife and mother? Or is it a little son or daughter carried away by a childhood disease? Or is it the news of a son who isn’t going to return from the army because he fell on a foreign field? One doesn’t know… However, one thing is certain, no matter if the family is humble, of the middle classes, or of the nobility, the emotion felt is the same… exactly the same.
