A Portrait of Mina Moiseyev (Ivan Kramskoi, 1882)

The Peredvizhniki made a break from the past in depicting peasants with the same care as they depicted the nobles, merchantry, and officials. This portrait of a peasant is done in the same style as the portraits of the “higher orders”, thus, making the case for the common humanity and dignity of all.
